CT Chapter

The Connecticut Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America was established in May of 1973. We maintain our office at 97 South Street, Suite 110 in West Hartford, CT. Our chapter has an active Executive Board with 15 members and a medical advisory board with 14 physicians. We are a non-profit, non-sectarian, all volunteer organization. We receive 85 to a 100 phone inquiries per month and send out 60 to 75 full packets plus 25 mini packets of information monthly.

Members of the Lupus Foundation of America, Connecticut Chapter, Inc., gain knowledge of our services. As a member, you will receive updated information about lupus, programs and activities. We educate and support those affected by lupus in hoping to find the cure. Join Today!

In addition to participating in the National Volunteer Week, we also participate in local and statewide health fairs. We also send out over 1500 meeting notices and 6 to 9 newsletters per year. We offer a 24 hour lupus telephone help line, send out messages of cheer to our members or friends when ill and make hospital visits.

We have 4 general meetings a year with a social refreshment hour at each meeting. We give out free literature at each meeting and we offer support groups in different areas throughout the state. We undertake fundraising events of various types each year to raise money for lupus research. Our funds come from membership, fundraising activities, and private and company donations.

Since 1974 we have awarded 87 research grants to the University of Connecticut and Yale University Schools of Medicine totaling more then $700,000 to date. Since 1978 we have presented an annual donations to the National LFA.

The Connecticut chapter sends representatives to the Annual L.F.A. meetings and the CT founder is the past Vice-President of LFA, Inc. Our biggest fundraiser is the Annual Leave Lupus Behind, Walk for the Cure held in October of every year.

If we can be of further assistance to you or if you need additional information, please feel free to contact us any time.
